Photographing a three-year-old’s birthday party is all about keeping up with the action. During a recent outdoor celebration, my goal was simple: forget about forced poses and just let the kids play, laugh, and be themselves.
Three is such a fun age to photograph. Children at this stage are full of energy, curiosity, and genuine reactions. Here is a look behind the scenes of how I captured the story of this special day.
Getting Down to Their Level
To tell the story properly, you have to see the world from a child’s perspective. I spent most of the party kneeling or sitting right on the grass.
Being at their eye level makes every shot feel personal and real—whether they are running through the garden, playing with friends, or looking up in excitement at their parents.

Kids move fast, and the best moments happen when nobody is paying attention to the camera:
